Petit Paris

The house Petit Paris on the corner of Melngaila and Zaļās streets was built on the site of the former garage, continuing the residential construction of the Quiet Center. The exterior of the building plays on the architectural images and stereotypes of the boulevards of Paris with French balconies and attics. In fact, the attic roof is a certain decoration - looking from above or looking at the end of the building, you can see that the roof slopes at the top do not form a choir - resp. the steep roof is more like a slightly sloping wall on the top two floors of a building. However, thanks to the clever solution, it has been possible to obtain a seven-storey house, which visually looks like a five-storey building, because the permitted height of the eaves is 17 meters.

The ground floor of the building offers space for shops or cafes, which in the future could definitely bring more life to the street. The urbanity and the impression of Paris are demolished by the garage facade on the first floor of Zaļās Street. Understandably, it is not intended as an imaginative reference to the past of the place, but rather a compromise created by the desire of Rigans to live in the center, to keep a car in the house or in its immediate vicinity. The garage with a mechanical system for parking on two levels allows space for 45 vehicles, which is quite a significant number for the center house (with 29 apartments).
